Getting to
Orotina....
From San Jose, get on the new highway
linking tot he Pacific at St Santa Ana and
in 25 minutes you will arrive to Orotina.
Least crime....
According to
local newspaper "VueltaEnU", Orotina
ranks third on the list of towns with less
crime nationwide, followed by his neighbor
town San Mateo. It is a very safe place to
live, the people are friendly and everybody
knows each other. unlike like in the big
cities where you don't know your neighbor's
first name
Some facts about
Orotina...
It measures 88,581 square miles, with a
population of 18,000 people.
It is 750 ft above the sea level, with an
annual precipitation between 1500 and 2000
mm and an average temperature between 70ºF
to 90ºF. That means you get a warm climate,
but with enough rain to keep the vegetation
green through the year. In summer feels like
being on the beach, hot enough but with a
nice breeze.
Small town still...
Even though it is still consider a small
town, it has developed a lot in the last
couples of years. There is everything you
need: big supermarkets, hardware stores,
pharmacies,
clothing stores, banks, bars and a big
variety of independent businesses. Even a
Tropical Park only 15 minutes away which
offers canopy tour, rappel, aerial trams,
butterfly garden and
horseback riding
just to name a few.

Orotina is a
small fruit growing town lying in Costa
Rica’s lush and green Central Valley.
Orotina is a very typical agricultural Costa
Rican town. Found at the foot of the Avocado
Mountains and serving as a halfway point
between
Atenas and
Quepos, Orotina is a great place to
visit any time of the year due to the
excellent weather conditions that prevail
here.
Orotina has one real tourist attraction,
BA RI Tropical Park.
One of it's interesting features is it is
renowned throughout the country for its
amazing variety of fresh fruits and
vegetables.
Often nicknamed the ‘the fruit town,’
Orotina is just a 25 minute drive to the
nearby Pacific Coast beaches and is a stones
throw away from
TURU BA RI, an eco-adventure theme park
that is just 7 km away. This tropical park
is a nature lover’s dream and is perfect for
those who enjoy bird watching or love
adventures. Also close to Orotina is the
small town of San Mateo. This town is
popular with tourists who mainly visit the
Ceramica San Mateo, a ceramics shop which
sells pottery made by local and regional
artists.
If you wish to stay in Orotina, there are a
number of affordable and comfortable hotels
and accommodations in the area. There are
also plenty of restaurants and food/fruit
stalls scattered all over town.
